Para Report Card on the physical activity of Filipino children and adolescents with disabilities

This week, we’re featuring the first Para Report Card on the physical activity of Filipino children and adolescents with disabilities published in Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly by Asst. Prof. Mary-Grace Kang, Audrey Anne Esguerra, Prof. Aila Nica Bandong, Roselle Guisihan, Frances Rom Lunar, Asst. Prof. Kristofferson Mendoza, Asst. Prof. Carlos Dominic Olegario, Assoc. Prof. Yves Palad, Prof. Esmerita Rotor and Gabriella Isabel Tablante. 🇵🇭✨

This research work summarizes the results of the first Para Report Card on the physical activity of Filipino children and adolescents with disabilities. It highlights the best available nationally representative evidence on the 10 core physical activity indicators broadly categorized as physical activity behaviors, person-specific characteristics (i.e., fitness), and sources of influence. Findings from this research provide baseline information on the status of physical activity engagement of Filipino children and adolescents with disabilities. The information can be used in improving the implementation and evaluation of related programs and policies. This project contributes to local and global efforts in promoting physical activity among children, such as the Global Matrix Project pioneered by the Active Healthy Kids Alliance. 🏃🏻‍♀️

This project supports CAMP’s research agenda on building healthy and resilient Filipinos, particularly through health promotion and research involving at-risk and vulnerable populations. 💪🏼

Strengthening evidence today helps build a more inclusive, active, and healthier tomorrow for every Filipino. 🧩🇵🇭
