Written by Michael C. Valdez, MRS-SP, RSLP
The College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP), University of the Philippines Manila, welcomed back the Practice Placement Education Workshop on September 14, 2025, with its first session in this year’s series focusing on Instructional Design and Assessment Strategies. The one-day workshop was held at Rooms 504-505 of CAMP and drew the participation of 43 clinical supervisors and educators from occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech pathology, and clinical audiology.
Organized as part of CAMP’s commitment to improving the quality of practice placement education, the workshop sought to enhance the competencies of clinical educators in providing meaningful learning opportunities for student clinicians. By strengthening instructional design and developing authentic assessment approaches, CAMP hopes that student clinicians are better equipped to serve the Filipino people in their future professional practice.
The sessions were facilitated by respected educators and practitioners. Assoc. Prof. Yves Y. Palad and Assoc. Prof. Bal C. Ligot shared their expertise on creating effective instructional designs tailored to clinical education, while Mr. Lui P. Acuña discussed the development of authentic strategies and tools for assessment. Participants engaged in a mix of interactive lectures and group activities, allowing them to apply new insights in collaborative ways.
The workshop marked the beginning of a continuing professional development series for practice placement educators, guided by CAMP’s long-standing mission to support those who mentor and guide students of various allied health fields.
