The University of the Philippines Manila rolled out the red carpet for its freshmen students, 19 August 2024, marking the start of an exciting academic journey. Todayβs welcome ceremonies were held across multiple venues in the university, taking full advantage of the hyflex set-up to accommodate the newest group of UP Manila students. CAMP’s newest batch of aspiring therapists filled Rooms 201-203 of the CAMP Building with palpable excitement.
Adding to the significance of the day, Dr. Raquel B. Del Rosario-Fortun, the Philippines’ first Filipina forensic pathologist, took center stage as the guest speaker. Dr. Fortun shared her arduous yet fulfilling journey, underscoring how her time at UP Manila was instrumental in shaping her into the trailblazer she is today. Her story served as a powerful reminder of the possibilities that lie ahead for the new students.
At the college level, Dean Mia Rotor expressed her excitement in welcoming 113 fresh faces into the fold. Addressing the 36 speech pathology students, 36 occupational therapy students, and 41 physical therapy students, Dean Rotor encouraged them to seize the opportunities that await and to embrace their roles as future ππππππππππ-ππ-πππππ dedicated to serving the many Filipinos who lack access to essential healthcare services.
With such an inspiring start, thereβs no doubt that this batch of CAMPers is ready to grow their roots in knowledge and spread their wings in service, poised to leave a lasting impact on the lives of countless Filipinos. Hereβs to a year of learning, growth, and making a difference!
Welcome home, CAMP freshies!
