The UP Manila College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) proudly congratulates Professor Jocelyn Christina B. Marzan, recipient of the 2026 UP Manila Alumni Association (UPMAA) Distinguished Alumni Award, conferred on October 24, 2026, during the 33rd UPMAA General Assembly and Alumni Homecoming Gala at the UP Manila Museum of a History of Ideas.
Dr. Marzan was recognized for her significant contributions to speech-language pathology education, research, professional development, and policy advocacy in the Philippines. With more than three decades of service in the academe, she has helped shape professional education through curriculum development, graduate education, and academic leadership.
Among her notable contributions are her involvement in establishing CAMP’s first graduate program in speech-language pathology in 1997, her leadership in major academic program revisions, and her role in the development of Republic Act No. 11249, or the Speech Pathology Law of 2019, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations. She also served as principal author of the BS Speech Pathology curriculum adopted by the CHED Technical Panel for SLP Education.
Her contributions to CAMP’s Master in Clinical Audiology program have likewise been significant. She has consistently served as a faculty member and has been actively involved in the program’s development and revisions over the years, helping sustain and strengthen advanced professional education in clinical audiology through the College’s collaboration with the UP College of Medicine.
Her research on language, bilingualism, and Filipino language development in children has contributed to a better understanding of language acquisition in the Philippine context, providing valuable insights for research and speech-language pathology practice. Her contributions to the profession were also recognized regionally in December 2025, when she received the Outstanding Contributions to the Communication Disorders Profession Award from the Asia Pacific Society of Speech, Language and Hearing.
Beyond these achievements, Dr. Marzan has served CAMP in various leadership capacities, including Dean, College Secretary, Graduate Programs Coordinator, Return Service Program Head, and Department Chair. She has also mentored generations of students and faculty members, many of whom now contribute to the College and the profession in their own capacities.
Dr. Marzan’s recognition reflects a career grounded in academic excellence, dedicated service, and a sustained commitment to strengthening professional education and the communication disorders professions in the Philippines.
CAMP celebrates this well-deserved honor and takes pride in Dr. Marzan’s enduring contributions to the College, the University, and the Filipino people.
