The Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) program of the College of Allied Medical Professions was approved at the 695th meeting of the University of the Philippines Board of Regents (BOR) on 13 April 1962. The first curriculum was developed by Mrs. Elizabeth Ahlberg (UN Consultant) and Mr. Robert Jacques (British PT Consultant). Over the years, the BSPT program has undergone curricular evaluation and revisions to ensure its relevance to the changing educational and healthcare landscape.
The BOR approved the revision of the BSPT program in 1999, expanding it from a four-year to a five-year program. Efforts to improve the 1999 curriculum began in 2007 and the groundwork for carrying out a major revision was started by the Department of Physical Therapy in 2013. The current curriculum was approved by the University of the Philippines Manila University Council on 13 June 2018, and first implemented in Academic Year 2018-2019.
