CAMP Faculty at the 2025 UP Manila Faculty Conference

The 2025 UP Manila Faculty Conference was a dynamic two-day event organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to promote the professional and personal growth of UP Manila faculty. 34 faculty from the UP College of Allied Medical Professions attended the event at the PICC Forum in Pasay City. Welcome messages were delivered by UP Manila Chancellor Dr. Michael L. Tee and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Bernadette Heizel M. Reyes, followed by a keynote address from UP System President Hon. Angelo A. Jimenez.

A key highlight of the conference was a series of plenary sessions featuring experts from the greater UP academic community who shared their insights with attendees. In addition to guiding participants through the program, Dean Rotor moderated a range of thought-provoking discussions, fostering engagement and reflection on embodying the themes of honor, excellence, and service as a faculty member of the University of the Philippines.

  • Parallel sessions provided participants with opportunities to delve deeper into specific topics of interest. Several CAMP faculty members contributed as speakers in these sessions.
    In the session Fostering Honor Online, Gabriella Isabel R. Tablante-Santos, an instructor from the Department of Physical Therapy, shared her insights on the challenges and opportunities of maintaining academic integrity and upholding institutional values as technology becomes increasingly integrated into teaching.
  • In the session Simulation and Honor: Ensuring Authentic Learning Experiences, Associate Professor Jocelyn Christina B. Marzan from the Department of Speech Pathology and former CAMP Dean examined the role of simulation in education. She emphasized how this technique can be strategically employed to equip students with the skills needed to navigate real-life situations.
  • Meanwhile, in the session Education Without Borders, Maria Eliza R. Aguila, a professor from the Department of Physical Therapy and former CAMP Dean, discussed the experiences and challenges of developing a transnational education program, highlighting strategies to maximize strengths in internationalization and sustain relationships with partner institutions.

The conference also featured a Faculty Well-being Expo, where the CAMP Departments of Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Speech Pathology (SP) set up booths to share resources and provide support for faculty well-being. The expo served as a reminder of the importance of self-care alongside professional development, reinforcing the conference’s commitment to a holistic approach to academic life.

The 2025 UP Manila Faculty Conference was a resounding success, offering a platform for meaningful dialogue, professional development, and the strengthening of the academic community.
