Wellness for Now, Wellness for Life: A Recap

The “Wellness for Now, Wellness for Life” health and wellness caravan, held on November 27-28, 2025, at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Lobby Atrium, brought together the communities of the UP College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) and PGH. The event focused on health education, prevention, and overall well-being. Organized by the Departments of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Pathology, along with student organizations—the Association of Physical Therapy Students and the Alliance in Wellness and Sports of Students —it served as a meaningful public service initiative in celebration of CAMP’s 62nd Foundation Anniversary.

Over two days, attendees explored nine interactive booths that combined educational videos with hands-on health screening. The Occupational Therapy Department highlighted occupational balance, stress management, and play and leisure, offering practical tips on maintaining a balanced lifestyle, managing stress, and integrating play into daily routines. The Physical Therapy Department addressed physical activity, workplace wellness, and muscle, bone, and joint health, encouraging participants to stay active, adopt ergonomic practices, and prioritize their physical health. Meanwhile, the Speech Pathology Department focused on vocal health and hygiene, language milestones, and stuttering, equipping visitors with valuable insights into voice care, language development, and overcoming fluency challenges.

Each booth offered not just information but also personalized health assessments. For instance, attendees who watched a video on voice hygiene could have their vocal health evaluated, while those interested in workplace ergonomics could assess their posture and activity levels throughout the work day. Experts and student clinicians were on hand to answer questions, provide advice, and offer referrals based on the screenings.

The event was organized by the CAMP Social Special Events Committee (SSEC), headed by Mr. Carlos Olegario, and the Head of the CAMP Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee, Mr. Dominic Cheoc. Their collective hardwork, alongside the effort of faculty, student and staff volunteers, ensured the smooth execution of the program. By the end of the caravan, over 130 participants had gained valuable insights into maintaining and improving their health and wellness.

More than just a health initiative, the wellness caravan emphasized access to wellness for all in a society where holistic health can feel like a privilege. It reminded attendees that caring for their health is a lifelong journey and that even small steps today can lead to significant improvements in the future. By bringing people together, equipping them with knowledge, and fostering a sense of community, the event left participants better prepared to care for themselves and their loved ones.
