The College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) at the University of the Philippines Manila officially launched its pioneering Faculty Mentoring Program (FMP), with its first activity, MENTOR Program: Mentoring Excellence, Nurturing Talent, Optimizing Relationships, held in November 2024. Designed to support and guide the next generation of CAMP faculty members, the collegeโ€™s FMP aims to foster their growth in academic and non-academic roles while cultivating strong professional networks within CAMP and beyond.

Life Coach and Communication Consultant Valerie Bringas, MA, facilitated the workshop. Bringing her extensive expertise, Ms. Bringas led the faculty through engaging activities that included reflection, goal setting, and role-playing exercises. The interactive workshop explored critical topics such as:

  • Selecting appropriate mentoring approaches according to the stage of mentoring.
  • Sustaining a healthy and productive mentor-mentee relationship.
  • Practicing effective communication between mentors and mentees.

CAMP faculty members, who are potential mentors in the FMP, actively participated in the workshop, sharing insights and experiences while learning strategies to address the mentoring needs identified within the college.

CAMPโ€™s FMP aligns with the collegeโ€™s commitment to empowering its faculty by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for academic advancement. It also aims to build a strong professional identity and aspirations while fostering a collaborative and inclusive institutional culture.

As the program continues, exciting next steps are set to unfold this year. Faculty members can look forward to additional workshops, peer discussions, and structured mentoring opportunities designed to further strengthen their capabilities and nurture meaningful relationships. By keeping its roots firmly grounded in excellence and tradition while spreading its wings toward innovation and growth, CAMPโ€™s FMP promises to be a transformative journey for its faculty and the entire CAMP community.
